Our dog, Ted, turned one

I was told by his mother’s owner that he was born on August 12th, 2011.

He is pictured above at two months old, when we adopted him (October 9th, 2011), then a few days short of a year old.

Being a happy mix between a Rottweiler and a German Shepherd, he is now about one hundred pounds, and is one of the friendliest dogs you’d ever meet.

Here’s to many more years as an integrant part of our family.
Happy belated birthday, “Teddy boy”! :)

BOOM! 1000th post

This GitHub/CoderDojo announcement was my 1000th post on tekArtist. :)

It’s been a wild ride since my first post under that name online in 2006, originally on Blogger, but promptly followed by a move to WordPress in 2007. It ultimately led to me getting the best job of my life at Automattic, wrangling up the most-awesomest-est WordPress.com code everyday, just for you. Turns out happiness is a blog… err, site.

Here’s to next week

This week:

  • Gastroenteritis on the first 2 days of the kids’ back-to-school, while wife away, losing 8lbs in the process? Check.
  • Getting back on my feet? Check.
  • Getting back to my usual energy level? Nope, I’m beat…
  • Leaving Saturday for a week-long meetup with my work team in the beautiful Mexican West Coast sun that is sure to make it all okay? Check!!!

So here’s to next week (or Sunday, at least). :)

Introducing Ted, our new puppy

Ted is the latest addition to our family. He was born on August 12th and we went to pick him up yesterday. He is a mix between a female Rottweiler and a male German Sheppard, which so far gave him the musculature of the former combined with the coat of the latter. Needless to say, there are about negative-1% chances he’ll be a small dog. :)
