I like the chain mail curtains. I assume they act like our mesh fireguards and cut down the heat coming off so it doesn’t get too hot while you are stood next to it?
Yeah, they’re to protect against sparks. I’m 99% sure that this is in fact an indoors fireplace (hence the guard, carpets) that the previous owners just put up outside. They were a construction family, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it had been recycled from a work site. It works fantastically well. :)
